What is EEV?
Recently, Second National Car manufacturer or best known as Perodua has been introduced a new model. The product has been named Perodua Axia. It was claim as Malaysia's first EEV car. Many people have questions about what EEV stands?
EEV stand for Energy Efficiency Vehicle. In Fact, there are 5 categories of cars under EEV. There are:
- Hybrid Electric Vehicle
Car under this category was generated of a combination of engine and electric motor that helps to reduce fuel consumption and offers better performance than conventional vehicles. Example of car that fall under this category are like Toyota Prius and Honda Jazz Hybrid.
- Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle
Car under category have a large battery that can be charged an external power source with the ability to drive as a Electric Vehicle.
- Alternative Fuel Vehicle
Any vehicle that running from alternative fuel such as Liquefied Petroleum Gas Vehicle, Compressed Natural Gas and Biodiesel Vehicle. Here in Malaysia, most of our taxi especially at urban area equip with Compressed Natural Gas which best known as NGV car.
- Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle
Generated as through the use of electricity from fuel cells releasing only water. Hydrogen react with oxygen in a fuel cell to generate electric energy created a zero-emission vehicle.
- Fuel Efficiency Vehicle
Car under this category that has a very good fuel efficiency and low carbon emission. Benchmarking of fuel efficiency is varies which depend on what type of segment of the car.
From all these 5 categories, Perodua Axia falls under category of Fuel Efficiency Vehicle. Perodua claims that this model has a very good fuel economic. With every single liter of petrol, it can be travel up to 21.6km with eco driving mode. The fuel tank capacity of this model is 33 liters.
In theoretically, with a full tank of fuel, a person can drive Perodua Axia up to 712km without refueling. It is a great saving. With the rise of petrol prices recently, most people at this time looking for car with a very good fuel-consumption. For those who would like to buy a new car, this new Perodua Axia can be consider as an option to be owned.
