Vessel Monitoring System

Ocean is a vast area. Due to this, it is very difficult to monitor for every single things on the ocean. There is a situation where an illegal fishing activity have been happen for so long. In addition, there is also a situation where fisherman of neighbor country trespassing the state waters. Therefore, an initiative must carry out on how to monitoring the vast area effectively especially a vessels.

Mexico has been implemented Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) for their Marine Department. As refer to Figure 1, its shown the component of the VMS. VMS is one of the method on monitoring the vessel at sea. Every single vessel need to install this system. VMS allows one employee to monitor up to 500 boats in one time. The system also offers a level of surveillance coverage that far surpasses traditional methods.

By implementing this system, the monitoring of all the vessel become more effective. This system can distinguished for any vessel that passing trough an illegal or reserved area.
