Corruption is a common practice..?

As my daily routine, I will have lunch at a stall near my office. After I made my lunch, I read the newspaper today (Berita Harian, 13 November 2014) to know about current issues.

I interested with the issue title mention "Corruption is common practice, its become open secret" at page 7. It was a rather interesting topic. I read the article till the end.

That article is all about what is happening right now at Cameroon Highland and what were happened before. The reporter had interviewed former District and Land Office (Pejabat Daerah dan Tanah) of Cameroon Highland . According to him, corruption has been practice since the year of 80's at District and Land Office of Cameroon Highland. Since that, that practice become widespread among civil servants. Civil servants who are not responsible will take a chance by taking or asking for bribes to get money in easy way.

In addition, not many arrests that occur because of alleged lack of evidence even have conducted investigation. Since there is no action from the authorities and there is no catch, this activity is rampant.

What is disappointing, this activity is being known by the public. In other words, local people know that civil servants did ask about corruption among local entrepreneurs. It is like this practice is legal.

Surprisingly, if this activity is known by everyone, why the authorities did not take appropriate action against the officers involved. According to the former District and Land Office, this activity has been rampant since the 80s until now. Almost 30 years this activity prevailed in Cameroon Highland whim, why the authorities simply deaf ear and a blind eye? Whether the authorities are also involved in this illegal activity ?

Looks what happens on earth structures in Cameroon highland. Intrusion is more widespread while the authorities simply remain silent. If this is the situation that exists in Cameroon highlands, no wonder there are unscrupulous people who only care about personal interests and money are willing to exploit the country's most valuable treasures. Where is the integrity of government officials?

In September 2013 ago, our Prime Minister Dato' Sri Mohd Najib speech at the "Syarahan Kelab Komanwel" in San Francisco, he wanted to make corruption as part of the things that have gone to Malaysia, not a practice in the future. He proved his sincerity by setting up a special Ministerial portfolio to ensure an all-out fight corruption in Malaysia. Now we have reached the end of the year 2014, what has happened to our Prime Minister decisiveness in fighting corruption?

Maybe our generation in the future will not be able to experience a comfortable environment as we enjoy today. What answer will we give to the next generation if this issue is not addressed in the sequel?
Let us think together.
